Week 10 blog
This week it's back to work. Mallory and I have started to collaborate on our Global Citizenship Project. I'm excited about the Children's Literature Project because I'm using "Flat Stanley's Worldwide Adventure series" I may use his trip to the capital or the Alamo. I love the series. If any of you are unfamiliar with Flat Stanley it's a kids book series that travels the globe. The author a Jeff Brown writes about a kid who was squished by a bulletin board that hung above his bed. Since. He was flattened he is then mailed around the world on adventures. It's a really great way to get students and their families involved in social studies. Students mail Flat Stanley to family. The family members can take photos of places Stan's been to. Family may also print Stan online and send photos by email of far off places. It's just fun for everyone. For NCTCS I'd could tie it together with Flat Stanley. Standard 4 Teachers integrate and utilize technology in their instruction. Flat Stanley can be used in class by using apps. like Twitter, Facebook, and email. Students can use iPhones, iPads, and computers to record Stan's travels and to interact with the Flat Stanley website. www.flatstanley.com
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteI love children's books, but I have never heard of Flat Stanley before. What a neat children's series. I would suggest standard three could be related to your topic too. Teachers know the content they teach. When you get your classroom you could use the book series in an Alamo lesson. Thank you for the book idea, Chris.
Chris, Flat Stanley is awesome! It van be great for integrating global awareness. How can you use technology to help with this integration?
